Feedlot Summer Student - Niton Junction, AB (May 1-Aug 30/19)

Responsibilities:

  • Beef and Feedlot management
  • Pen checkingØ Assist with processing and treating cattl
  • Assist with shipping cattle, ensure appropriate cattle are being loaded and proper paperwork done
  • Responsible for regular bedding of pens
  • Conduct daily checks and regular cleaning of water bowls
  • Assist with yard maintenance including repairing fences, feed bunks and water bowls
  • Clean up of yard, equipment, pens, buildings etc
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Student must have a minimum of 1 years' experience handing cattle
  • Pen checking experience is an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ability to operate equipment including skid steer, loaders etc.
  • Experience operating a UTV required
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organization skills, self-motivation
  • Must have a positive team player attitude
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Follows policies and procedures and completes tasks correctly and on time
  • Treats people with respect; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments
  • Able to work well independently with little supervision
  • Is consistently at work and on time
  • Physically fit and able to push, pull, lift up to 50+ lbs and to bend and kneel with comfort
  • Schedule is primarily 5 days per week 7am - 5pm including weekends and holidays
  • Excellent command of the English language (reading, writing, oral)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Agronomy Summer Student - Niton Junction, AB (May 1-Aug 30/19)

Responsibilities:

  • Developing a manure management plan
  • Build environmental management manual
  • Strong focus on crops
  • Weed maintenance
  • Compost maintenance
  • Fertilizer (manure) logs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Student must have completed at least 2nd year of Agronomy program
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ability to operate equipment including skid steer, loaders etc.
  • Experience operating a UTV required
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organization skills, self-motivation
  • Must have a positive team player attitude
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Follows policies and procedures and completes tasks correctly and on time
  • Treats people with respect; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values
